We took profile headshots using a camera then they were imported into Maya for reference when building the 3D model. Maya model being fit over photographic profile shots. Working at Eyebeam surrounded by Powderly busts. Blue foam being cut on the laser cutter. Multiple passes are required to get through without burning. Test fit. I didn't realize until later that I actually printed it too big!! Power calibration test. Increasing power from left to right. As power increases more foam is lost to vaporization, and at the far end the foam started burning. In the end we used the lowest power setting (cleanest cut) with multiple passes. Raster etch test. At low power with raster etch the foam expands instead of being vaporized. With more care could be a useful effect. Stefan modelling his polywig. The multiple passes of the laser give a woodgrain effect. Layers held together using masking tape.
